Finding a reputable Florida VPK program doesn’t have to be hard. Parkland Children’s Academy is a curriculum-based preschool that helps young children grow a love of learning. We offer a safe place for your children to learn and grow. Our family-oriented Broward County school offers a fun educational experience that your preschooler will remember for a lifetime.
What Is A Florida VPK Program?
VPK is a voluntary prekindergarten program that helps children grow physically, sociably, emotionally, and cognitively. Our Florida VPK program helps prepare children for kindergarten and beyond. Not only does it get them ready for learning, but helps them get used to being in a classroom, too.
Our staff offers age-appropriate lessons that familiarize the children with the space of the kindergarten classroom. This makes the transition to school that much easier. Our VPK program is for children who turn 4 years old on or before the 1st of September and runs for 540 instructional hours.
Curriculum For Our VPK Program
Our VPK program teaches basic skills that children will need for kindergarten. This free program teaches your child many skills, including:
- Literacy. We expose your child to books early and help them learn to read and improve their vocabulary. They also will learn the alphabet and how to spell their name.
- Cognitive Development. We will introduce them to colors and shapes, teach them to count to 10, and ask them to match similar items together with classification. They will also learn about the four seasons, time, and problem-solving.
- Social Skills. Being around other children in a learning environment will help them learn to follow rules and how to share.
- Physical Development. We will focus on motor and coordination skills with catching, throwing, and jumping. Your child will enjoy age-specific games that allow them to be tested physically.
Benefits Of Choosing A VPK Program
The main benefit of having your child attend a VPK program is for them to have exposure to kids their own age before kindergarten, this helps children build confidence. Another benefit is that teachers can give parents feedback on their child’s progress, which allows them to work on anything they may need extra help with before starting school.
How To Apply For Our VPK Program
Our program is free. However, you must have a Certificate of Eligibility from the Office of Early Learning to join.
